We had something different this year at the convention, a Lolita Fashion Show if you couldn’t tell xD. I thought it went really well and it was great in my opinion. The girls were cute and so were their outfits. I personally don’t know much about lolita even though I really like the dresses:P, so I was a big surprise to me to learn about all the different styles of lolita. Hopefully they come back next year, I really enjoyed it ^^. Read on for a picture intensive post and something nice at the end ^^;.
The following pictures including the one above is from Vraxx’s photo set. More great pics are on his flickr page, check it out ^^.
The next set is from Leyliagray’s photo set.
The next ones come from alwayswill.
Here’s a video of the show itself. The music you hear is not the one used at the show, I think the shows music was better in my opinion :P.
I personally thought the girl in the first picture dressed as a pirate is the cutest ^^. She also came out in a pink dress while holding a pink umbrella, a black dress, and a white dress while holding a bear. Who did you think was the cutest?
Polls

I’m never able to catch these shows when there’s a con since I’m stuck in the vendor’s room, so it’s actually lots of fun to be able to see these. Though at the table I do get to spy on cosplayers who pop by to look at stuff, the atmosphere is somewhat different and not all cosplayers head to the vendor’s area since most of them are there to just cosplay (which is free) but entering the vendor’s section requires you to purchase a pass. So I suspect I missed out on a fair number of good ones :/
No idea if this years con will have anything special lined up but hopefully I’ll be able to sneak away from work to take some photos. Doubt that will happen though -_-” Can’t decide whether the girls are cute or not since the only thing that catches my attention would have to be made of PVC xD I like the dress in the 2nd pic though, lace and frilly frillies are always good =)
The gothic lolita look has a very nice style to it and I have a friend who used to wear those kind of clothes a lot, and she looked really hot. Though I’ve seen some at cons now and then, the look really only suits certain type of people.

I have to agree with Adun, this style only suits certain type of people… and when it does, this is just amazing!
would love to attempt one.
This ghotic lolita fashion show must have been very interresting
And 2nd one is lovely indeed.

wow, a goth loli fashiobn show? looks really good but some of the people inthe pics are not really suited for the goth loli look i think.

Just to clarify with some of your blog readers: the fashion show was a lolita fashion show, not strictly a gothic lolita fashion show. In other words, styles other than gothic were shown (as you can see in the video).
Putting everything about the show aside, I’d have to say I also gotta agree with Adun; for some it feels way too out of place.

@shino: Didn’t know you were a vendor ^^. Ya, I think cosplaying is free as well over here but people generally get passes as well so they can go to all the events. Hope you get to take some pictures but as always, PVC ROCKS xD.
@Adun, lu-k, Setsuna-san, Espydon: Well, we all aren’t suited for many things but it’s our love for it that makes us go for it. I have one cosplay picture of myself that I know didn’t turn out well ( I will upload it later) but my love for the character and the want to be like the character didn’t stop me from becoming the character.
@lu-k: Lol, are you going to wear the dresses ^^;;;.
@Setsuna-san: Updated
@hoshi: Thank you for putting that, I was contemplating on whether or not I should put that up ;p. But if most people are like me, the generally associate lolita with gothic lolita, though I swear I don’t do that anymore ^^.
The girl in the third picture is pretty.
We had a con recently here in the Philippines. I was kinda amazed by the number of people who came dressed in gothic lolita and visual kei stuff.
…and you have your own Lolita fashion show? XD

I would have to say - I really love the outfits, but I’m not so taken by the looks of the girls. I’ve been spoiled.
Radiant’s last blog post..Goodbye Joe-Joe
naaaah~ !! ^^; just to see beautiful girls in beautiful dresses for real, not just through pictures.
But well… could be funny to wear one actually haha ^^

Definitely a challenging event to shoot with the dim lighting. Guess we’ll see if the Lolita fashion show idea is expanded for 2009 or just ends here.
I used to see these girls all the time and my girl and I used to call them hime sama because they look like little princesses. I always wanted to talk to one of these girls and ask them why they got into dressing like that.

@coeli: Actually this was the first lolita fashion show at Kawaii Kon, I’m hoping they come back next year xD; especially so because of the big success with this years show.
@Radiant: They do have great outfits ^^.
@lu-k: Make sure you post a picture of yourself on your blog if you do wear a lolita dress lol ^^;;
@Vraxx: Hopefully it does continue and better lighting next year if it does.
@R.O.: I think its the pretty frills on the dresses ;p.
Haha, sorry that I had to change the music for the fashion show in my video. I cut the clips off at different points, so I couldn’t just leave the bg music on.
