I love Hina and I know many of you do as well ^^, it has nothing to do with the post lol.
I know there are commenter’s out there who needed me to repeatedly moderate your comments which can be quite frustrating. So I am happy to say it shouldn’t happen anymore, well not as much anyways lol. Although it’s not quite proven, I believe that the problem was my spam karma plugin that has many restrictions on who can and can’t comment. Initially it worked out great and all the spam was eaten with no one except new commenter’s possibly needed to be moderated. But it shouldn’t happen anymore, for I’m going to rely on Akismet to protect me from spam. I came to the conclusion that spam karma was the problem because after I deactivated it and used Akismet, R.O.’s latest comment went through without me needing to moderate. So happy days are upon this blog with comments that can go through with no problem, hopefully ^^.
I don’t think akismet is enough =\ I used to have around 100 spams per day in my akismet and some of the were actually valid comments…
My recommendation is Math Spam plugin (or another captcha based)

In my experiences Akismet has a higher false-positive rate than SK2, so don’t expect things to get better magically. I’ve seen Akismet flag comments as spam that has zero links in them, something that’s unusual in SK2 unless it’s a lot of random gibberish that’s common to spam comments.
CAPTCHAs aren’t really the answer either, but they can help. The math one is a bit tougher for the spambots NOW, but if more people start using it those who code the spambots will code up support for it (frankly I don’t think it’d be very hard at all to do this, deciphering image-based CAPTCHAs is a much harder task computationally) and you’ll be back to square one.
And really, that’s going to happen over and over as the war between spammers and anti-spammers continues. Spammers really are assholes.

Akismet for me wasn’t enough as I had to moderate quite a lot of comments every day. Spam Karma does work well to an extent, but if new commentors come onboard, they’ll just have to build up the karma with Spam Karma. It took a while for some of my commentors to get through yet some managed to get through straight away.
The problem I have commenting on your blog sometimes is the AJAx posting where it doesn’t reload the page automatically. I’d have to refresh the page myself to see the comment appear.

@ron~: Actually, I did try a math capcha last year but the problem was I still needed to moderate comments so I decided to take it off.
@Maestro: Spammers are horrible. I still check my spam to make sure legitimate comments are not in the spam section so it’s almost like nothing changed lol. But it seems like previous commenter’s that were considered spam were able to post without me needing to moderate. But I will keep what you said in mind. I might get a math capcha again in the future if I encounter the problem again.

@Adun: There were many problems with sk2, though initially I found out the “normal” setting was too much so I put it to low. But I still found a few legitimate comments after that, so I’m giving akismet a try. But thanks for your input, it’s good to know other’s experience with sk2. I have the problem where I see my comment appear but my page goes blank afterwards, I’m going to see what can be done to fix that and your problem as well.
