Tama-chan FTW ^^

Warning: What you are about to read is nothing more than a fan boy’s obsession with a anime character. But since you’re here, why don’t you read on ^^.

I knew Tama-chan was awesome the moment I saw her, but after watching episode 21 she is now one of my top favorite anime characters of all time ^^. Seeing a otaku speak with such confidence in her voice, sugoi. Then seeing Tama’s hair tied in a pigtail fashion, kawaii. Lastly, when Tama shows off her skills in kendo, kakko ii. All of which makes Tama-chan such a lovable character lol, the world needs more Tama-chan’s ^^. In episode 20, we get to see a new character in the anime, her name is Rin and she is a huge fan of the Braver anime in Bamboo Blade. But she doesn’t like the character Braver, she likes Braver’s rival, Shinaida, who is considered the bad guy. The two meet and face off in a quiz battle to see who knows more about two animes, Braver and a sentai show, with the two ending in a tie and the tie breaker being a singing competition that Tama-chan sadly lost because of her lack of singing experience. The two later live under the same roof due to Rin joining the people that are making a Braver movie who are staying at Tama’s dojo because her dad knows the boss. They talk a little about the Braver anime then head off to sleep because they need to get up early the next day to join the shooting for the Braver movie. Tama sets the alarm to wake them up when she accidentally set off the alarm and couldn’t turn it off. Rin gets up and turns it off and her eyes open wide, for the clock was part of a bomb that was disabled in one of the episodes of Braver and her third favorite scene in the anime and was amazed Tama had one. Then the two start talking passionately about the Braver anime until early morning when they got to the subject of who disabled the bomb. They argued a bit about it and decided to watch the episode to decide who was right. Braver cut the right wire to disable it but “supposedly” did it correctly because of Shinaida’s advice. Then they get to the scene where Shanaida passes away and Rin starts to cry as she sees her favorite character say his last words (very touching). The two are so passionate about anime that it amazes me. I like anime too but I don’t know every detail like they do like putting scenes to the episode number and saying all of their favorite scenes. Maybe if I stuck with one anime I would but I like so many that I don’t think I could do it lol. Too bad most of my friends aren’t really otaku, they know of anime and watch a few but other than that it’s mostly games and whatever is online lol. Though there are a few hardcore otaku that I talk with and we do talk about animes we like, just like Tama and Rin ^^.

So Tama and Rin with the lack of sleep from the all night Braverfest, the two slept with each other on the van to the shootfor the movie(kawaii ^^). Rin shares her candy with Tama when they hear a loud noise, Shinai Girl (who is actually played by a man for due to his feminite features, a man playing the role of a woman in Japan dates back to 1653 for Kabuki theater, you can read a brief history here.) So the movie needs a replacement which the manager of the actors volunteers for which is quite funny for the guy is probably 100 kg (220 lbs) and he wants to fit into a tiny suit that he will probably tear the moment he puts it on lol. Well everyone disagreed with the idea then Rin volunteered to do the role because she knows all of Shinai Girls lines and she can fit into the suit lol. Originally, Rin was supposed to play a high school girl running away from the area so she suggested Tama takes her role instead. Tama does take the role (she looks so kawaii with her hair in a pigtail fashion) and is now the new high school girl who’s line is Ta..su..ke..te (H..e..l..p), which she says perfectly lol.

When “Shinai Girl” stood in front of Tama, something came over her. She felt as if she was looking at Shinaida himself while Rin saw Braver in Tama. Rin steps up to Tama and is about to hit tama with a shinai when Tama picks up the shinai on the ground with lightning speed that Rin threw earlier at Tama’s feet. The two square off with each other and we get to see the serious Tama in action, totemo kakko ii ^^. I don’t like Shinai Girl’s outfit, it looks a funny to me in the mask area lol. Everything else looks good though, very Braver-like ^^. Braver’s outfit is pretty cool but I like Shinaida’s mask with a skull being on 1/2 of the mask ;p.

But the fight is eventually broken up and the two apologize to each other for fighting and to the movie crew as well for their behavior. I thought the preview of the next episode was pretty cute with a chibi Tama being the narrator. Her eyes popping up when she says “Ta..su..ke..te” is kawaii. Apparently you get a Braver fan, probably limited edition lol, if you pre-order for the movie ticket. I wish they did that here, the only time they did was with the Pokemon movies where “limited edition cards” were given out with every ticket bought for the movies (they probably had thousands of the “limited edition card” lol). Apparently if I saw Tama-chan at the theaters, she would let me shake her hand lol, that was hilarious, I would shake her hand ^^.

So move over Kirino :3, as Tama-chan has stolen your spot lol. But Tama’s spot might be taken by Azuma if I get to see more of her lol. Sayaka is OK because of her randomness but other than that and her nice oppai I don’t have much interest in her ;p. I don’t like Miya Miya because she is a jerk to practically everyone, except Dan-kun, and is especially mean to to Azuma who she “uses” to her will. Though I believe she gives more respect to Azuma now that she acknowledges her kendo skills and asks Azuma to train her to become better in kendo herself. At the end of episode 21, Azuma also stands up to Carrie to defend Miya Miya’s skills that she believes is getting better. Azuma is so nice ^^.

    1. 1 Shin

This is the only real reason to watch Bamboo Blade. Such a coincidence that she’s voiced by the same person who did Kyou, my favorite Clannad girl. Yuji on the other hand is Sunohara lawl.

Shin’s last blog post..Gurren Lagann: The Movie

    2. 2 Setsuna-san

i find it fascinating that both Kyou and Tama-chan are voiced by the same seiyuu considering that both their character personalities are poles apart. Tama-chan is obedient and sort of like a turtle(dont ask me why it just came to my mind) and Kyou on the other hand is fiery like a raging bull.

      nonetheless, Tama-chan is sugoi!!

question: can Tama-chan be considered a loli? if thats the case then loli kendo otaku power FTW!!

    3. 3 Adun

I’m lucky that I have a select few friends that I can speak all out otaku with, but probably not to the extent of both Tama-chan and Rin. But the best part about Tama-chan and Rin is that they both like the exact opposites, and that gives it a more dynamic conflict and for better arguments.

Tama-chan is indeed the greatest in the show, but I still prefer Kirino.

I love Bamboo Blade and have caught up to the latest episode (this one).
I have always felt that Tama-chan was the main character in the series and she deserves this spot.
Her way of showing her passion for Red Braver has given her even more moe power!
However I still prefer Kirino… Tama-chan looks too young and innocent to me.

@Shin & Setsuna-san: Wow, I did not know that part. Seiyuu sure can be chameleons and bring life to all sorts of characters (which would be a part of their success)! Anime forever!

    5. 5 Rakushu

Replying after a while, but who cares.

I haven’t watched Bamboo Blade for a while. Although Tama-chan is great she can’t compare to the great Kirino lol

@Shin: I didn’t know that, I’m not very good with seiyuu names lol ;p.
      @Setsuna-san: I consider her a loli, loli with a blade rocks ^^.
@Adun: It’s nice to have parallels, fangirls are not a must.
@D_Blade: Wait until Tama-chan grows up a little then we will see ;p.
@Rakushu: I don’t mind, whether it be 10 minutes after I post or 1 year, as long as there is interest then it’s no problem ^^.

@AS: This sounds good to me! If Kyon’s sister, Tama-chan, Kagami Hiiragi, etc. were to grow up as harmoniously as Mikuru of the future did (assets non-obligatory), it would be great!
This is always how I feel about loli and why I can’t have a nosebleed in their current form.
Guess one sentence of Ryo Saeba said it all: “I’d love to date you when you get older”. ^^
Yup, me would never be confused with pedobear (sorry for the pedobear wannabes there).
      That is all!
