Damn, that’s a lot of chocolate O_o; lol

I know it’s a bit early for us on the western hemisphere but it’s Valentine’s day in the eastern hemisphere lol. I know I said I would make my next post cool, but Valentine’s day is cool..I guess lol. Valentine’s Day just happens to be on the day when I would post, so I thought I should post today on Valentine’s day and the other post tomorrow. Hope you have someone to celebrate the day with, doesn’t have to be a lover as it could be with your friends or family. Give your friends some chocolate to eat or maybe some flowers to your mom or sister.

What’s interesting about Valentine’s day in Japan is how it is celebrated. On February 14th, women give chocolate to men as a way to show how they feel towards them. Though it doesn’t have to be the “love” everyone thinks of for Valentine’s Day. It could be the “love” a daughter has for a father or a mother for a son. At the workplace, though it’s not always the case as it could be at school with a student-teacher relationship or other places, female’s could give male co-worker’s “obligation chocolate,” which is chocolate they give to someone who they felt was of great help to them. Sometimes the chocolates are store bought, but it can also be homemade which adds a warmer feeling when they present the chocolate to someone.

Then on March 14th, there is a day called “White Day” in Japan. This is when the lucky male’s who receive chocolate’s give chocolate’s to the female’s that gave them chocolate, out of guilt lol (though I guess for affection too ;p). Usually these are store bought chocolates that interestingly enough come in containers with darker colors like brown and blue rather than the red and pink found on containers on Valentine’s day. I actually learned of this little fact from my Japanese sensei, I didn’t even know that lol; I thought the containers were all white based on the name of the day. But men aren’t as limited as women when it comes to purchases, as there are chocolates, flowers, and presents that they can give out as well. What’s funny is how store’s sell these “White Day sales” are all around store’s that sell the goods so that the man can’t say that he “forgot” ;p.

Katsura’s chocolate was made from a various ingredients including cocoa, lizard, fruit, ganache, wing of bat, and other misc ingredients that were mixed while was saying an incantation. Katsura’s chocolate is the winner of chocolate’s lol, though I don’t know if I want to eat it ;p.
