ARIA is back and so am I ^^
I’m still here lol, I’ve just been busy with school. Cursed professors giving me homework, what do I need homework for? Lol, well anyways, I know this is late but ARIA is back with “ARIA the Origination.” The show starts off with the “sempai (more experienced) and kohai (less experienced) relationship,” with the three water fairies of Neo-Venezia teaching their protege’s how to become undine’s themselves. One of the great things about ARIA is how the show incorporates the opening and episode at the same time, truly the magnificence that is ARIA.

Akari, Aika, and Alice (say that three times fast ;p) are practicing their gondolier skills with each other and talking about their time with their sempai’s during the carnival when they see Al-kun and Akatsuki. Akatsuki is studying for his exam to be a full-fledged salamander and Al-kun is helping him study. The three girls leave Akatsuki and Al to continue their practice which they finish later on.
At the Aria Company, Akari, Alice, and Aria taijou are eating lunch when Woody comes by to drop off a package. Inside the package is cherry tea and jam. Alice comes up with the idea that this is the perfect opportunity to bring everyone together for a nice tea party. Akari and Alice go out to buy ingredients for the party and go back to the Aria Company to prepare everything. Later on, everyone but Athena shows up due to work. They are greeted by Aria taijou in a cute butler/waiter outfit when Aria is greeted by Maa-chan (the cat on the bottom right hand corner in the following picture), with a nice bite to the belly. Everyone soon settles down and enjoys the jam with cookies Akari, Alice, and Aria taijou made with the jam and drink the tea they received.

During the tea party, Aika wanted to know about the customer who sent the cherry jam and tea. Alice and Akari tell the story of how Alice was guiding a mother and daughter around Neo Venezia with Akari watching and learning from Alice. It was a cold winter and the daugther had taken the mother to see Neo-Venezia, but it was quite cold when they visited, but the mother didn’t mind as she was able to see snow that she rarely witnesses back home (man-home/Earth). Alice, with her eagle eyes ^^, manages to spot a snowflake coming down from the sky ahead of her and tells the mother to hold her hand’s up with the palm facing upward then manages to maneuver the gondala so that the snowflake fell on the mother’s palm O_o. Snow started to fall from the sky afterwards and “warm the customers hearts.”
Aika also had a story of Akira’s ability as well. A group had requested Akira to be their gondolier during the carnival and Akira took Aika along to learn from her. One of the men of the group, possibly drunk, stood up on the gondola and danced back and forth along it when he tripped on a stool and almost fell out of gondola and into the water, possibly getting hurt when he fell, if Akira didn’t move quickly to grab the man’s shirt and push away from the opposite wall with her oar to get leverage. The man behaved the rest of the trip. Unfortunately Akira doesn’t remember this and could care less about it.

Alice also had a story of Athena sempai who used a ability required of a undine, the ability to entertain her customers whether they be big or small. Athena and Alice were out with customer’s with their child who wouldn’t calm down and was causing quite a fuss. The parents had their backs turned to Athena and were surprised when he calmed down and started to laugh. The reason being the child, who was facing Athena, noticed her making silly faces which entertained him. At the end of the story, Athena entered the door and was wondering what kind of story Alice was telling everyone about her. Alice replies “A stupid tale” but later adds that it was pertaining to how great the water fairies were.
Alice, Akira, and Athena then started to discuss how their three kohai will one day be undine’s themselves and need to work hard to achieve that goal. But after they become undine’s they still need to strive to learn something new, just like they do. Akari, Aika, and Alice go outside to look at the sunset and talk about what they just discussed and acknowledge that they still have a long way to go to become undine’s but they will become undine’s no matter what. Back inside, Alice, Akira, and Athena talk about how far their kohai have become and that they will most likely surpass them and eventually become the new water fairies of Neo-Venezia.

Impression:
T-T, what a beautiful ending. The girls still have a long way to go, but I believe in them and that that they will become undine’s faster than they think. ARIA is something to be watched and enjoyed but it makes you wonder why you “truly enjoy it.” It’s supposed to be a slice of life/future/comedy anime which you can find a lot of. But ARIA just has that special something that I can’t quite put into words. For me, I guess it would be how ARIA just makes you feel comfortable whenever you watch it. That’s the best I can come up with lol, ARIA’s greatness isn’t something I can easily explain. Maybe you can explain why you love ARIA and why it is so great ^^?
Yeah, it was really awesome how the OP incorporates some sequences of the anime though it did take me a while to realize that and now I’m wondering how much content I’ve missed over all the episodes ^^; Sure it might not seem like a lot, but still it’s something I missed out on and with ARIA, it’s one of those animes that I don’t really wanna miss anything on. Which is why I can sit through the OP song over and over again (and honestly, the OP songs are really nice too!)
I love the heartwarming moments in ARIA, and I wish I had Akari’s optimism in all things xD I hope they become undines soon enough too since the Arietta OVA and all seems to keep hinting at them becoming undines in due time. Can’t wait for that to happen! Possibly why I like this anime is that on a subconscious level, I’m always cheering for them and hoping they’ll make it sooner than later xD
Oioi. About your homework – just do what I do and don’t do it XD. That is, if you aren’t the type to take your grades more seriously than you should.Anywho, I have been DLing the new season of ARIA, but I’m only 5 episodes into the first season thus far and planning to blast through the full thing this weekend. At first I was unsure about it, but the minute Alice was introduced the show became great XD.
21st Century Digital Boy’s last blog post..February watching
Hi, found your site casually by google and can’t stand to post.
First, the new ending is awesome, for me the best of all and better than the openings also. The sequence where Akari awakens is so wonderful.
The episode is a lot of fun and reintroduce all the characters very well. I enjoyed the irony of Akira with her client and the faces of Athena. (I don’t think she doesn`t remember, she plays dumb as certainly she cares nothing about it)
Thanks Athena get some time on the episode, I always wanted she appears more often. I loved the episode when she helps Alice with no walking on the sun. She says so much with so few words.
Why I love Aria? also no words, or maybe so many
If I have a hard day, after some Aria all problems are gone and feel well. The better optimistic pill I have ever had.
P.D. English is not my natural language and expressing feelings is more difficult also, so sorry for any errors.
@shinohai:True, ARIA is not something you want to miss a moment of or else you might miss something important. Akari’s “tsuteki” is something to be awed, as she is one of the most optimistic anime characters I’ve ever seen.
@21st Century Digital Boy: Ya, Alice is awesome, I love her dead pan speaking manner and how serious she is lol, total opposite to Akari.
@genimac: I hope you come by and comment more often ^^. Athena’s air headed attitude is very cute to me lol, as she can seem like such a klutz at times and yet cool at other times. ARIA just gives you that good feeling doesn’t it ^^. Btw, your English is good, no worries ^^.
