With the end of my midterms comes the end of Potemayo, coincidence? I have been taken though a world of comedy that I’m sure I won’t forget anytime soon. With no real plot, some character development, and tons of comedy we have come to the end, another great anime ending with a questionable ending. Something that I hope will resurface in the future.
Sunao dreams of the time he was with his mother when he was younger on a beach front where his family lived due to the fathers job. Sunao’s mother has been sick as of late and stays mostly in bed while the father goes out to do research because of his job, so Sunao remains home alone with a native caretaker, Morio, who takes care of house chores like cooking, cleaning, and even playing with Sunao; though his sumo playing could be taken down a notch ^^. One day Morio is writing a letter to his mother and suggests Sunao does so as well which he does and leaves on the nightstand next to his mothers bed to read. After reading the letter, Sunao’s mom asks Sunao to read it out to her, basically saying there are beautiful flowers blossoming nearby that he wants his mother to see.

Later, Sunao and his mother return home to Japan where the mom stays in the hospital to get treatment for her sickness. Sadly, the mother dies and Sunoa separates himself from his father who was not there when his mother died due to work. Sunao wakes up from the nostalgic dream that his father apparently had as well.
Potemayo’s bud has blossomed and is causing her to be unbalanced. The same is happening in Kyo’s house where Guchuko has unexpectedly entered, having quite the scare when Kyo said her name behind her as she duct taped a crack in the glass door she just caused.

Guchuko tries to explain something to Kyo while waving her arms in the air (kawaii ^-^) and soon the whole family is looking at Guchuko, but they don’t understand and Guchuko gets so angry (Geehhheeh) she forgot what she wanted tell Kyo.
Later we see Mikan walking with Yasumi to school and Mikan is wondering what she should say to Sunao when she meets him, for she yelled at Sunao the previous day. Sunao and Mikan meet while going to school and Mikan starts freaking out as usual and tries to apologize but Yasumi pulls her away. Sunao unexpectedly grabs Mikan’s hand and silence occurs. Mikan notices Potemayo acting strange and Guchuko is as well at Kyo’s home. Both have the flowers on their head fully bloom and they rise up in the air seeming content.

The flowers burst into falling petals and the two drop into the arms of those they are closest with.
Both of them aren’t reacting and could have just died.

But they awaken and all is well.
A party at Sunao’s home with all the cast of Potemayo celebrating, most likely for Potemayo’s good health. Even Guchuko joins the party as she makes her entrance by air-kicking Potemayo who was just about to be fed by Kyo. The two start running all over the house as the party continues with karaoke, food, drink, laughs, etc. On top of Potemayo’s head we see Chick who is pushing a seed that seems to be stuck in Potemayo’s hair. After the party, Sunao finds the seed and throws it in the gomibako (garbage/trash can). Into the night the gomibako starts shaking.

Later, Sunao awakens to something and wakes Potemayo up to investigate what it is. Underneath Sunao’s covers is a strange looking rabbit thing. Potemayo tries to talk with it only to have it end up….

Before class starts we see Kyo coming through the door with something in her arms. A blue haired bundle of kawaii that supposedly belongs to Guchuko O_o.

Impression:
The ending totally threw me off lol, I bet it did to all those who watched it. Guchuko’s “offspring” was so kawaii, what happen to Potemayo’s lol. Potemayo ends with episode 12 and I wish there were more. I really enjoyed watching the comedy this anime had to offer and didn’t mind the lack of story. Guchuko was of course the biggest attraction to me, she’s so kawaii, with all the duct taping, blasting of Pote-chan, scythe wielding, and of course (Geeehhheehhh) ^^. If you like kawaii and comedy, watch Potemayo, you won’t regret it.

Nice summary. But please correct ‘Mikan’ to ‘Kyo’ except in the 6th paragraph. ^_^
So right… I’m going to miss Potemayo. Hopefully there will be a similar kind of anime coming up later on. Now I have to rely on the comedy of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei to keep me going… sigh
So my friend, do you like mayonnaise a bit more now? XD
Got to find this series somewhere after watching the last episode of Darker than Black… As I will be left with anime hunger. T-T
@SAT: Thanks for noticing, I was quite tired when I wrote this and I guess I kept writing Mikan rather than Kyo lol. I just like Mikan lol, Mikan is orange/tangerine in Japanese.
@luvbiwal: Potemayo will be missed T_T.
@D_Blade: I still don’t like mayonnaise lol, it’s just something foreign to me that isn’t to my taste. Hope you find Potemayo too and enjoy watching it ^^.
Honi Honi! Honi! Honi honi, honi!
@AS, watched some short clips on a popular site and I snickered
(especially on the parts with Guchuko and the one with the pooping bird) and I should watch episode 1 soon.
I was joking on mayonnaise. I can’t expect you to suddenly like it just because it is briefly mentioned on anime.
