Sayonara Lucky Star Girls (T-T)

lucky star girls
Konata is saying “Bye Bye” and Misao is saying “Ban,” I think ban is kansai dialect or something for bye.

Another ending to another memorable anime. Lucky Star ends with episode 24 and I’m not disappointed with what I watched. Lucky Star has had its ups and downs, mostly ups, and has started another world wide following in the anime world. I for one will miss the girls, but with episodes and merchandise on hand, they will not be forgotten ^^. The final episode of Lucky Star will now be reviewed.

The girls school announce the last Outou Festival for the year and in need of an opening act that Patricia suggests be herself and her closest friends do a type of pep rally dance in cheerleader outfits, that they agree to. But they need more and Yutaka asks Konata to help but Konata isn’t really for it until Patty calls and says that she has a ticket to meet Aya Hirano, the voice of Huruhi, in person (kind of ironic considering the voice of Konata is Aya herself ^^). Hearing this Konata happily and willingly volunteers herself to be a part of the dance.

Konata also asks her own friends to join and after some hesitation and guilt trips over helping Yutaka who wants to participate and make memories. The girls of Lucky Star are now a part of the opening act that has been approved. But the deadline is fast approaching and nothing besides the approval has really been done that angers Kagami who yells and pokes (I thought the poking was hilarious) at Patricia, who not only organized the event but has somehow become non-fluent in Japanese, to start working and they would polish everything as they go along.
poke poke poke

Everyone gets everything ready for their own classes part in the festival including Konata’s class that will do fortune telling (nostalgic) and Yutaka’s Zuka cafe.

Even Akira finally comes into the show, for this popular idol will sing at the school.

But things don’t end well when Akira and Minoru supposedly “meet for the first time,” ending with yelling between the two because of Minoru cutting Akira’s song practice resulting in yelling (those two are a great pair ^-^).
fight

The girls decide to practice one more time before the real performance and came out with an awesome dance (thumbs up).

The day for the performance is starting and the girls are all nervous. Minoru is the MC for the opening act and is going through formalities when suddenly a loud ringtone of Koi no Mikuru Densetsu goes through the air and Minoru realizes its his own phone and all the girls laugh and are calmer after that. With their giggles out of their systems the girls calm down and Minoru announces the song/dance to be Motteke Sailor Fuku and curtain rises to….the Lucky Star mascot, some fluffy cat thing ^^.

Impression:
Ahhh, what a nice ending, though I was kind of hoping for something like Azumanga where they show the girls at the graduation ceremony and ending with those graduating with diplomas in their hands, o well. It was great to see the whole Motteke Sailor Fuku dance, now people all over the world can copy it and youtube themselves doing it lol. Lucky Star had a rough start after the whole hype from the release of the opening theme song but along the way it became better though still having some faults with its 24 episodes.  Some of the things that kept me watching included:

Randomness that was hilarious.

Last and possibly my favorite…..MISAO ^^. Misao was my favorite character the moment I saw her lol, I have a serious case of fang-moe ^^.

    yes.. sayonara T_T. hope we can get more of them!!!!

    I fear the inevitable onslaught of Motteke Seifuku live actions that are going to be hitting youtube soon. The abridged versions were bad enough, now that the full version is out, we’re doomed.

    I doubt it’ll be as big as Hare Hare Yukai though.

    And Misao ftw! “Sanbyo rooru sanbyo rooru”

    I felt so sad when the episode ended, really T_T

    Fortunately, Louise is still there to comfort me, waiting for Shana come-back, and then Haruhi… feeewww ^^;

    Misao was great in those two last episodes, in kindda apreciate more and more her voice and style! I’m looking forward next Kaoru Mizuhara roles.

    @zenical: More Lucky Star would be awesome.
    @Shirukii: Yes, we are doomed to youtube Lucky Star dances now and maybe even at anime cons too.
    @lu-k: It was sad, but its true that there are upcoming animes that will comfort me as well, like what you listed. Misao is awesome, I wish she had a bigger part in the whole show, she didn’t really show up until the show was more than half-way done.

    The end was one of the best i have seen so far. too bad Minoru was there to sing us another strange ending .-_-”

    IMO, Hare Hare Yukai will still be more popular because it is easier to perform than Motteke Serafuku. Motteke needs more performers as well and is more difficult to orchestrate.

    Next up on the wish list will be Lucky Star figures and a new season! can’t imagine the girls after graduation. Lucky Star in university anyone ??

    BTW, if you feel helpless without Lucky Star, check out the manga, it’s a real good read.

    Lucky Star banzai!!!!!

    Fang moe FTW!!!

    Misao is such an awesome character. I really wish she had gotten more screen time. Of course, I could say that about most of the secondary cast, but that especially goes for her. Alas. T_T

    @Setsuna-san: True, Shirashi does sing weird songs, but when he sang his own ringtone it was pretty hilarious. Lucky Star Nendoroids are already in the process of being produced, http://www.nendoroid.jp/products/other/luckystar.html , I’m thinking about getting the animal versions of Konata and Kagami. I saw some of the mangas while in Japan, they were pretty cool but my Japanese isn’t good enough yet to understand whats going on. I hope the English version comes out soon ^^.
    @zenical: It was a very touching ending, especially the last part. Very nostalgic, for it reminds me of when I graduated from high school.
    @Orion: Wooot for fangs >o<. Too bad the secondary casts didn’t have more show time, it would be pretty awesome.

    Wow. What a great ending for this series, even if I really hope for a second season.
    Lots of Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu references again, my favorite being Konata dressed as Nagato Yuki the Witch.

    Konata being a fan of Hirano Aya… Funny, yep (shameless plug!)… Real Seiyuu are not surprised reading funny lines like this, and this is what makes dubbers, actors, etc. worth a praise.

    Kagami yelling at Patricia because of the project… I guess she grew fond of it in the end. ^-^;

    I was quite happy to see Shiraishi getting his sweet revenge over Kogami. She deserved it.

    I will miss Lucky Star now, really. There is still so much more to cover, not only about the otaku world, but everything else, and the way they put fun is that is simply unique…
    Goodbye Lucky Star, it was a great series to follow!

    By the way, I hoped for no Mottoeke! Sailor Fuku during the episode but a 4+ minutes edition at the end of it… But no, Shiraishi stole the spotlight again. -_-;

    The show is coming to the states Will they keep everything in tack or will they destroy the series….
