Say “Hi” to your okaasan (mom)

What a touching scene from Lucky Star episode 22 ToT. Kanata visiting her daughter, Konata, and husband, Sou, from beyond the grave; it wasn’t the evil haunting kind too. Kanata visits them to see how they are doing, seeing how Konata has grown and the relationship developed between Sou and Konata, which is a bit too ero for Kanata lol. Seeing how Sou and Konata are going to take a photo together, Kanata decides to step into the background which wasn’t exactly the best idea as her presence actually came out as a shadow on the digital picture which apparently means its cursed and needs to be burned, leaving a very surprised Kanata trying as hard as she can to tell them not to to no avail ^-^.

My mother is still with me and although she bugs and nags me, I still say “Hi” when I see her ^-^. It’s too embarrassing to put how I really feel, I’m pretty sure you know what I mean. So say “Hi” to your mom when you see her, it shows that you acknowledge her and you know…ya. For she’s not some atm or personal cook, she is also a living human who needs affection/acknowledgment every now and then.

I know there are those out there who don’t have a mother, father, or perhaps even both and are living with a relative/guardian who you should still say “Hi” to when you see them. I also know there are those out there who don’t really like whoever is taking care of them, well they most likely like you and probably want you to show it thought acknowledgment like a simple “Hi” in the morning. That simple word can makes all the difference in a relationship.

(Note: I am not a professional who can give out advice. I’m just saying whatever comes to my head, though thats how professionals do it though lol)

Remembering your moms birthday is important, luckily for me her birthday is four days after mine so I tend to remember. But I’m unlucky when it comes to my dads birthday for his comes five days before Christmas so I usually forget, poor guy. Sou got Kanata a gundam I believe lol, nice ^^.

I thought this was a nice picture of the Izumi kazoku(family), Konata is very cute as a baby…maybe its the mole lol

Stupid Sou, didn’t fulfill Kanata’s request lol. Well if it was fulfilled then the Konata we know and love probably wouldn’t be the same.

Yuu-chan was very kawaii when she couldn’t completely put the lid on the jar…very annoying when that happens. Though its more annoying trying to open a hard to open bag by hand without having everything blow up or like Konata said “it will hurt my pride” if all that effort went to waste by cutting it open.

“Look, Pocky” lol, I love Misao. Maybe I’ll do that one day, though I normally don’t like to drink out of a straw.

One of the best Lucky Star eps that I have seen, better even since I watched it on a bigger screen.

I was quite skeptical about the fun level in that episode at first, but beginning with the chips bag, it was great.

The part with Kanata’s spirit visiting her family was really touching.
AS, you are definitely right there. I also tend to take for granted the fact that everyone in my family is still there, except my grandfather who is gone since a few years ago and with whom I didn’t have much communication.
Sometimes one tries to show he/she is there, to the point of exasperation. But it is only when they disappear that we feel they played a role, even a minor one in our lives… and also that, like many movies, dramas (and so on) show us, sometimes it is too late to wish them goodbye, to give them our excuses or thanks or to express regrets.

To return to Lucky Star, it is really amusing to see that the fears that Kanata expressed for her daughter have been proven all true in the end (reminds me of Oedipus and the fulfilled prophecy idea).
Kona-Chan has really been “corrupted” by her father and genetics haven’t favored her either. At least she almost looks the same as her mother.

The part with the jar and chips bag reminds me how prideful and stubborn (display of strength?) we can be for really trivial things that can turn sour for even more embarrassment (I really thought the contents of the bag would pop out for more comic relief).

No more Lucky Channel? Awww. The outcome was expected though, with Minoru’s rampage (by the way, I thought he would never show his real eyes… How wrong I was).

I vote for a second season of Lucky Star!! Otherwise I’d feel desperate.

P.S.: If I were to call my father “poor guy”, I think I’d be missing a few teeth there (just kidding).

What a great episode. I was really impressed with the way KyoAni managed to blend the humor together with the more serious segment involving Kanata without it feeling forced or cheesy. It’s really a testament to KyoAni’s ability.

Also, I too really loved that shot of baby Konata with her rosy cheeks and little mole. :D

That was a really surprising scene, it was extremely cliche but still managed to be heartwarming and funny. But it was still only the second best skit of the episode.

    Pittan, la la moji pittan~ > *

    @Adun: Ahhh, yes…your nice new 22″ monitor lol ^-^.

@D_Blade: Wooot for a second season. Lol, when I said “poor guy” I meant I feel a bit bad that I keep forgetting.

@Orion: Kyoani is really strutting his stuff as of late. Konata was very cute.

@Shirukii: Second best? What would you consider the best?
